Orange is the New Black

Orange is the New Black

Spring Summer 2014 shows radiated this year with bright tangerines and coral oranges from apparel, accessories to nails and lips. When it comes to orange I believe

All is right, when you go bright.

This colour is wearable.  Don’t be afraid to embrace the colour this Summer. But if orange is a bit too bright for you why not add that sunny colour into your lips and nails? Bright tangerine nails and coral lips seen from DSquared to Rag & Bone show.  For full colour high pigment, MAC lipsticks never disapoint and their star shade for this trend is the the beautiful Morange. Maybelline’s Electric Orange from Maybeline is also pretty. For nails OPI’s “A Roll in the Hauge” is a vivid orange that will brighten up any outfit. Here’s a snippet of some of the shows.

Fringe is a great detail to an outfit this season. Black fringe, beaded or sparkling tassels adds that old glamour for evening dresses, like the Kate Moss for topshop dress I am loving. Go for bright colours this Summer for a fun and flirty look. Mix some fringe with aztec prints, in kimonos, long skirts and fringin’ accessories for that tribal safari look. Here are my fringe favourites right now! .

1. Steve Madden Fringe Necklace

2. Kate Moss for Top Shop Fringe Dress

3. House of Harlow 1960 Aegan Treasure Earrings

4. Tamara Mellon Suede Midi Skirt

5. Gucci Fringe Bag

6. Paula Cademartori Fringe Handbag

7. River Island Fringe Kimono

8. Miss Selfridge Pink Swimsuit

9. Stella McCartney Cutout Dress

Pretty in Pink at the Met Gala 2014

Pink was a favoured colour on the red carpet at the Met Gala whilst this year’s theme returned to formality celebrating American Couturier  Charles James.

And it was mainly the blondes that looked pretty in pink.  Blake Lively looked flawless and every bit the old Hollywood glamour in a soft blush pink Gucci gown with a cape train. Whilst Emma Stone wore a cropped ensemble in two tones of pink which was a modern take (the cropped top)
with the open split skirt.

Rome is one of my favorite cities, always charming with such beautiful architecture and history. There is so much to see and even on my 3rd trip to this city, the place still captivates me with its beauty and charm as if I’d never visited before. I managed to cover the Vatican, Colosseum, Pantheon, Altare Della Patria and Trevi Fountain in a day – it was exhausting!  An absolute must see is the church Santa Maria in Aracoeli at the Vittoriano (Altare della Patria) the interior inside is stunning with artworks on the ceilings and beautiful chandeliers, monuments and statues all around the walls.

Golden Globes 2014 Red Carpet Style | Colour Block

The Golden Globes saw some beautiful color block gowns which seemed to be a trend on the red carpet at this year. I particularly like Aubrey Plaza’s purple and pink Dress from Oscar De La Renta and Taylor Swift looked stunning in a full length  black and pink Carolina Herrera gown. Here’s a look at some of them.

London Collections Men’s A/W 14

London Collections Men A/W 14 finished its 4th season last week with great collections that surely put UK closer to the forefront of Mens Fashion week. The UK designers this year proved that great designs and immaculate tailoring is part of the British heritage. The Saville Row tailoring styles were seen in the collections but with a contemporary look. They were versatile in muted colors, with attention paid in the details, like pops of colours seen in bow ties or lapels, and contrasting fabrics like velvet and lurex all added a modern luxe to the “British” classics. Here’s a snippet of some of the shows.

burberry prorsum mens fall 2014

Burberry Prorsum

Bohemian, urban youthful look of the “artist” or “painter” There were colorful printed silk scarves tied in wide circles at the neck, white netted vests under open buttoned jackets and shirts, the 3/4 sleeves and thin trousers all gave this dainty boyish charm.

Richard James

Smart with interesting details that added a decadent touch of flair… Like the 3 piece suit in velvet aubergine, a pop of yellow velvet collar in a 3 piece grey suit, and silk shawl lapels with a sheen made it rich, cool and decadent luxe.

Gieves & hawkes fall 2014

Gieves & Hawkes

Jason Basmajian, previously Artistic Director at Brioni showcased his 2nd collection for the brand, and the influences of the Italian style are beginning to show. There is a more delicate approach to the fabrics like the alpaca, and cashmere coats. The signature Gieves & Hawkes “military look” was still seen but appeared more versatile and softer. Contrasting textures like shearling collars on leather jackets and the shiny blue lurex tux teamed with a velvet bow tie added a luxe and contemporary feel.

Richard Nicoll

Blue, a whole lot of blue. The collection showcased Nicoll’s signature color, that blue/teal which was seen on coats, to shorts, to leather. Bright colors and prints were mixed up with different textures and patterns like a tweed jacket with leather sleeves and a furry collar, and organza silk shirts with ruffle details in different colours. Colourful and mixed up. The eccentric gentleman.
