I love this photo – It captures an interesting moment backstage during a Fashion show. The models are lining up to walk and you can see some of the models have taken off their shoes for just a few minutes of rest!

I know what you’re thinking and yes, yes I know this is long overdue and about 1 month late but I have only just had time to sit down and blog about NY. And trust me its been eating away at me everyday – but I have a full time job so blogging has been few and far between (And I commend bloggers who do it EVERYDAY, because its SO time consuming! Neverthless I want to share with you my firsthand experience at NY Fashion Week this year.
So…. this year in September 2011 I was assisting at the Vera Wang show in New York for the SS2012 Show
And it was truly amazing, exhilarating, and the most wonderful experience to be part of this show. The clothes were breathtaking and so creative with so much imagination. The collection was wimsical with a dark take, slightly Alice in Wonderland with androgyness futuristic structure juxtasposed with the delicateness of the silk chiffon and opalescent prints over the fabric.
An absolutely amazing experience, seeing all the work that comes together for the show and feeling the buzz and frenzy backstage in the hectic countdown til showtime. Adrenaline is so high I felt my heart palpitating the entire prep time. Finally when the long awaited show starts I was shivering unbelievably with chills down my spine. You can really feel in the air the tension up until that moment the lights go down, the music starts and you relax for a millisecond with the slightest reassurance that “We made it.” But then your heart begins racing again as you watch eagerly and proudly on to the show that you are so grateful to have been a part of. It was whirlwind of emotions and an amazing feeling.
I got to meet some of the top models, the beautiful Arizona Muse, Shu Pei and Daphne Groeneveld who are even more beautiful in real life than you can ever imagine. AndI must add that I have a newfound respect for models. Modelling is tough, stressful and really not as glamorous as it seems. Models are running around from casting to shows to run throughs without much sleep and little time for themselves. Some of the models I got to work with were the most professional and dedicated people I have ever met.
But without further adue…… VERA WANG SS2012 FASHION SHOW

So I’ve seen media acorss the London tubes. And according to them the Versace for H&M collection is now launching 17th November in UK! As opposed to 19th Nov in US.
Even better!!

The collection is quintessentially Versace, filled with prints, colour, gold chains and most of all THAT leather studded dress.

Some of my fave pieces from the Spring Summer 2012 Runway shows…
Alexander Wang.
Liked the collection – and have always loved Alexander Wang but definitely feel this collection was a little inspired by some of last seasons collections. I saw a lot of last seasons Givenchy & Louis Vuitton (Fall / Winter 2011) inspired pieces in there especially with the black meshcrop jackets over the floral / print dresses and the the leather panels. Did not like the greasy / wet hair look either, it runied it.
Altuzarra:
Loved it. So edgy – with the block squares of floral baroque print over the prstine white. I want the red stripe panel leather gilet jacket – amazing.
BCBG Maxazria:
BCBG show didn’t wow me – a little the same, but thats what he’s know for. The asymetric cut dresses with splashes of colour and the experimental shapes. A few of my fave looks….
Cynthia Rowley
I liked the collection, I loved the Glamour. But all I could think of seeing some of the looks was ERDEM.. ERDEM.. ERDEM… the prints were unbelievably similar and some styles seemed very copied. And watching the last 3 looks it felt like I had suddenly switched to an ERDEM show. Although I did really love the 1950′s dresses, all the pieces were so glamorous.
In a bit of a rush at the moment….. back to work! (I am in New York for Fashion Week interning at a very well known Model Casting agency and have been assisting with the casting of models from Ford, Elite all the top guns all week and am loving every second! But I’ll write all about that later! PLENTY of pics to follow….
lots of love
