LFW AW 2012 Favourites #1

Some of my favourites. London has been impressive this Fashion week and has really put London back on the map!

Mark Fast.

I was lucky enough to work on the Faster by Mark Fast SS2012 Fashion show at New York Fashion Week sept 2011 and I’ll tell you the designer is a genius.

This collection is elegant, young and refreshing to see knits made so beautifully. I love the knitted plait dresses which are very different. The fabrics look luxuriously sheer and body conscious, together in those soft nudes and muted colours make the collection very sophisticated and wearable. I love the way his pieces are body conscious but so delicately, especially the deliberate sheer panels across the bust that show a bit more skin than the rest of the garment, the cut out pieces across the hips, and lower back and the collar bones on show all draw your eye to the most feminine parts of the body making the pieces ever so slightly sexy and sensuous.

Erdem.

My favourite. All hail Erdem. A killer collection yet again. I love the interesting mix of fabrics with black lace over tweed and leather. A little fetish like with the edgy fabrics but still remaining feminine with the sophisticated cutting, cinched waists, tight pencil skirts and capped sleeves. The fabrics are literally mixed up (see look no 4 from the left) with lace and florals combined but they all come together wonderfully. In love with the second look, black lace over the bright white trousers and a high neck silk, no sleeves blouse cinched at the waist and balloons at the hips. Perfection. What is great about Erdem is it has its own style, a signature and its so recognisable. Erdem stays true to what it does best. Why change it up  when you do what you do best to perfection?

Holly Fulton

love. love . love. with my heart. heart. heart. Colour! Prints! The bright and intricate prints on the silk  and the layered printed cardigans over printed tops  are mesmerising. The use of 3 or more different pinks in one outfit works spectacularly, glamorous, girly and colourful. I could wear every piece of this collection. I more than love. holly fullerton fall 2012 rtw lfw

PPQ.

I’ve recently become a fan of PPQ. I find the collections very unique and different. Especially this collection. There is a vintage feel to the collections with the high waisted high leg shorts, the off the shoulder sleeves, chiffon bow scarves tied at the side of the neck, side sweeped wavy hair and red lips, there is something that says drama to this collection. There is also something that looks a little Pantomime / costume / stage like from the black & white tights making it fun and youthful as well. I think its wonderful.

Moët & Chandon Rosé Tag Your Love – Valentines Gift <3

I just came across this wonderful Valentines edition from Moët & Chandon. It’s so cute and fun and portrays the playful and glamorous spirit of the brand. Moët Rosé Impérial have created “Tag Your Love, Tag Your Moët” – a selection of Limited edition Graffiti packs with 2 of the packs that lets you personalise your very own Moët Rosé Impérial with a note or little love message, I love the idea of personalising a champagne bottle as a Valentine’s gift – how perfect!

Love the song in the vid. It’s Lily Wood & The Prick – My Best.

Blancpain Saint Valentine 2012 Limited Edition Chronograph

The absolute master of Valentine’s Day timepieces, Blancpain, has done it again with yet another extraordinary Saint Valentine’s timepiece for 2012. The Saint Valentine Chronograph 2012 is produced in only a limited quantity of 14 (how fitting!) With an 18k white gold case and  mother of pearl dial set with 8 diamonds as the hours markers. The crown is encrusted with a diamond cabochon and ruby set push buttons each side of it. But the most beautiful feature is the heart shaped ruby at the second hands center.

A 30 minutes chronograph sub-dial at 3 o’clock position, a 12 hour chrono at the 9 o’clock position and a  small seconds counter is displayed at 6 o’clock position all in the shape of a heart. Whilst the date appear at the 12 o’clock position in a tiny heart.

Similarly to last years Valentine’s piece Blancpain have kept the pristine, pure white subtlety. The bright white alligator strap and mother of pearl dial only further enhances dazzling red of the ruby heart at the sweep second hands.

The Saint-Valentin Chronograph 2012 has a Caliber F185 mechanical movement, is self-winding and has a sapphire glass caseback.

The use of hearts can sometime get too cliche or overkill but Blancpain  use plenty of hearts but still make it look elegant, beautiful and wearable. I love this piece. Hint to my secret lover out there??!!

BASELWORLD 2011 Review & Pictures: HUBLOT King Power F1, Cathedral Minute Repeater

So I went to BASELWORLD 2011 this weekend and it was mesmerising. I felt so alive seeing such extraordinary timepieces.

The key brands that stood out for me were not the usual, aside from HUBLOT being one of the most ‘popular’ brands I anticipated to see, the others brands that surprised me and I feel are some of the STARS of Baselworld include PAUL PICOT’s nature and earthly inspired pieces with his pure Slate dial ATELIER watch, CONCORD with its C1 flying tourbillon at the 4pm position on side of the case and CHRONOSWISS with their elegant ladies timpieces and their Edition Zeitzeichen collection of skeletonized art inspired pieces. (I will write specifically about these later) But first, HUBLOT.

Baselworld 2011

HUBLOT took my breath away. I got chills as I approached the booth, I felt excitment and anticipation as this was definitely one of the brands I went to Baselworld for.  And Hublot did not dissappoint,  their display was powerful, dark and almost dominating. Everything about Hublot demands power and authority. Their watches so mesmerising I almost felt faint.

The showcase windows of Hublot were futuristic, cool, powerful and high tech, with text within the window screen then appeared and dissolved. The watches themselves were suspended on electronic movement devices which turned the watches in circles, to the side and from different angles so the viewer could admire every degree of the watch’s beauty.

HUBLOT BIG BANG ALL BLACK CARBON

HUBLOT Big Bang All Black CarbonHublot’s first Big Bang made entirely of carbon fiber, all black and completely matt, this watch is made of 100% carbon fibre with a black ruthenium coating. With a black alligator dummy strap and  the watch is a coordinated abys of black that looks so stealth like, powerful, demanding and dangerously alluring, the watch itself has a commanding presence. I feel minimal looking at it.

HUBLOT CATHEDRAL MINUTE REPEATER

HUBLOT 2011 Novelty - Cathedral Minute Repeater Tourbillon

HUBLOT 2011 Novelty – Cathedral Minute Repeater Topurbillon
Hublot showcased their Cathedral Minute Repeater at Baselworld this year. The star of Hublot’s 2011.  A worlds first, the 100% carbon fiber watch.
In the dial the watch has 2 mysterious Cathedral type gongs, one for hours and one for minutes which sounds the hours.  The watch completely reflects HUBLOT’s  innovative desing point, a stiking but sophisticated ‘rawness’. The watch looks so raw but is so controlled with all the materials housed beautifully together in the entire watch.  The matierials used in this watch from rubber, titanium and carbon show Hublot’s exoertise in the fusion of materials.

Favourites from LFW 2011 – ERDEM ♥ TEMPERLEY ♥ SASS & BIDE ♥

ERDEM

Elaborate prints, stunning. My heart races.

SASS & BIDE

Sass & Bide got some COLOUR. Bright Orange and Pink colour to be exact. I really love the burnt oranges and the perforated crochet shoulder dress with belt on the waist – Gorgeous!

BURBERRY PRORSUM

JOURDAN DUNN opened the Burberry show! Burberry’s latest ‘IT’ girl – we love her, she is a true beauty with such a graceful and cool look and she is really representing British fashion talent. As for the collection I was a little disappointed – it was a little odd and confusing to me…. starting with bright solid colours over to strong two-tone colour checkered coats, then over to clean cut minimalist Russian snow queen with fur hats.  I didn’t follow it or understand. No story. Wasn’t amazed, nevertheless there were a few pieces that I did like.

TEMPERLEY LONDON

I fell in LOVE with Temperley London’s collection. Sophisticated black tie gowns that had a daring and dangerous femme fatale style. Glamorous, powerful, opulent, demure and dark. I love every single piece of this collection. Russian excellency and royalty like dresses in a modern day look. ALL HAIL TEMPERLEY
